Sports are her world. Running, pedalling and swimming and, in the championships, overcoming the circuits and beating her personal best. This is all that matters, and these are Andrea Brede’s sporting goals.On the 1st July, with favourable weather conditions, this thirty year-old athlete competed in the ultimate Ironman discipline: the Marathon of over 42.195 km, against her closest rival, Nicole Leder. In what she herself defines as an “interesting sprint challenge”, she fell just a few seconds short of defending her title. Even though she was not the winner in the competition between the two of them, Andrea Brede is a winner anyway: she beat her own personal record. With 9:04.16 hours, she was 12 minutes faster, earned the place of runner-up, and successfully qualified for the legendary Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, in October 2007. For the last year and a half, Andrea Brede has been using the BEMER-3000 system, and she has integrated the application with magnetic pulse fields in her concept of training and preparation, following the instructions of her therapist, Klaus Breitung, from Cologne, and of her coach, Dr. Matthias Marquardt. In January 2007, this top athlete began her training in preparation for the Frankfurt European Championship. At the same time, she started using the Bemer system according to a set plan: morning, midday and evening, she uses the basic program as described in the manual. Before the toughest training units, such as interval training, she implemented the treatment alternatively with level 3 or 4, to optimize the warm-up stage. After the training session, she would regenerate with level 10. “Personally, the time I spend on the BEMER coil mat is one of agreeable relaxation, which is effective for the stress of daily training sessions”, she remarks. It goes without saying that the positive effects she achieves thanks to regular use of the BEMER system are equally important. Andrea Brede lists these: “preventing injuries, shorter recovery time and faster regeneration and, thanks to this, increased resistance for my organism”. One month before the European Championship, she modified her applications of the BEMER system as follows: before her morning training session, she began with level 6 to warm up. Whenever she suffered from muscle hardening, Andrea Brede used the intensive applicator and the P4 program. After the training session, to assist regeneration, she used either level 8 or level 9. A few days before the start, to enhance her mental state and to ensure she would sleep well, she additionally needed the P1 program before starting. Andrea Brede began the European Championship with the optimum training units and with the regenerative measures provided by the BEMER 3000 system. Her next challenge is to ensure her place in the world’s top ten, and she aims to achieve this, together with BEMER, in October 2007, during the legendary Hawaii Ironman.
