23/05/2010 Ph.D. Malin Olsson of University of Technology research goal is to detail women's reality of living with MS. Twenty Five women were interviewed by Malin concentrating on their every day lives, their incidences of acute fatigue, treatments and experience of feeling well. The women she interviewed would like have time and the chance to convey grief and weakness when communicating with health services. Malin remarked it is about going from a healthy state and being independent to having to relie on others in order just to meet fundamental needs of day to day life. The study indicates existence of altering relationships between their bodies, self and needing the world around them to have the knowledge to distinguish the individual experiences of how it is living with MS. This is now a prerequisite for the health care system to be capable of relating to the conditions of women with MS and apprehend their circumstances. The research also indicated that women living in our current days individualist society have a increased probability to suffer discrimination in their every day lives. An exact number of persons with MS is unknown. It is estimated that between 250,000 to 350,000 persons in the United States have been diagnosed with the disease. This indicates that there are about 200 new diagnoses made each week. Three fourths of persons with MS use one or more alternative therapies or visit alternative therapists. Following are some alternative approaches to treatments of MS. |
